Welcome to the Chand Precision Quantum Lab!

Our lab develops scalable platforms for quantum sensing, precision metrology, and quantum measurement. We investigate nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond, emerging spin defects in two-dimensional materials, quantum materials and devices, and solid-state nuclear systems such as thorium-229. By combining multiplexed optical microscopy, microwave and radio-frequency control, cryogenic instrumentation, quantum control, and data-driven and computational methods, we aim to probe magnetic, electronic, spin, correlated, and nuclear phenomena and develop new approaches to scalable quantum sensing and precision metrology.

The lab is launching at the University at Buffalo in Spring 2027. We welcome inquiries from motivated PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and undergraduate students interested in experimental quantum science and engineering.
